How to Use VibeMetrix

VibeMetrix is intuitive, browser-based software designed for non-technical users. Everything is point-and-click simple; if you can navigate a website, you can learn VibeMetrix in minutes.

Overview

VibeMetrix helps you find, monitor and comment on relevant blog posts. In addition, you can view the results of your work and enter notes to help you keep track of what you've done.

Enter keywords

The first step is to enter keywords relevant to your area of interest. (You can enter up to 100 keywords per campaign and you can have five campaigns per account.) Examples of keywords might be the name of your company; products; competitors’ names; topics of interest in your category. Try to be as specific as possible to produce the most relevant results.

You can control how VibeMetrix searches for your keywords (this will be familiar to you if you use Google AdWords):

keyword keyword = broad match, with stemming
"keyword keyword" = phrase match, with stemming
[keyword keyword] = exact match, no stemming
-keyword = exclude this term, no stemming

"Stemming" means plurals, past tenses and other forms of a keyword are returned as results. For example, with stemming, "anchovy" will also return "anchovies" as a result.

Once you click to enter your keywords, you've automatically created a campaign. You can add or delete keywords at any point by clicking "Keywords" in the main menu.

Search Tab

After you've created a campaign, VibeMetrix works continuously - in real time! - to search for blog posts where your keywords are being discussed. By clicking the Search tab, you will always see the latest results.

If you're interested in an item, you can click the Save button. That adds the item to your Saved tab (the original copy remains in the Search tab as well). FYI: Any changes you make to an item will automatically send a copy to your Saved tab.

You can click the hyperlinked item title or the View Item button to open a new browser tab and go to the original post. You can click anywhere on an item to read it inline within VibeMetrix. If the item contains videos or podcasts, you can play them within VibeMetrx as well.

Under the More Actions dropdown, you can perform several actions on your item including:

You can filter what you see by keyword and by date. And get this - you can even "go back in time" and see results from before you began using VibeMetrix (we have a ginormous database of blog postings).

Saved Tab

The functionality in the Saved tab is basically the same as in Search. The difference between the two tabs is that Search contains all your search results in real time (except those you've removed or archived) while Saved only contains the subset of items you've acted on in some way.

Notepad

To help keep you organized, VibeMetrix provides a freeform Notepad so you can make notes to yourself associated with any individual item. This can also be handy if you are sharing a login and want to communicate information about specific posts.

Reports Tab

VibeMetrix makes it easy to see - and thus share with colleagues, clients, etc. - how many posts you've found, how many you've commented on and so on. By using the Control Panel you can filter reports by campaign, keyword and date. You can also Select Report Type, which lets you choose specific types of reports such as "Most Found Keywords," which is helpful in understanding which of your keywords are most common in your category.

Metrics Tab

For those who like their reports colorful and graphical, the Metrics tab provides bold visualizations of the most important information coming out of your campaigns, including the most-used keywords and the "noisiest" blogs. Use the Control Panel to select a campaign and date range. Right-click any chart to copy-and-paste it into a spreadsheet, word processing or presentation document.
